Town boss Roy Keane says his players will be hurting after Sunday’s derby defeat to Norwich and will have to be at their best to beat West Brom in tonight’s Carling Cup quarter-final at Portman Road. The Blues are without virtually an entire team due to injury, suspension and ineligibility for this evening's match, which will definitely be going ahead despite the snowy weather.

A Grant Holt hat-trick condemned 10-man Town to a disastrous 4-1 defeat to Norwich at Carrow Road. Holt appeared to handle the ball in the run-up to the opening goal, but Town struck back through Delaney soon after. Holt added his second before Delaney was red-carded for hauling down the Norwich skipper, then after the break Holt netted his third and sub Wes Hoolahan completed the scoring.

Liam Davis put the League Two side ahead but goals from Carlos Edwards, Damien Delaney and Tamás Priskin sealed the tie for the Blues.

Skipper David Norris netted his fifth goal of the season but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Blues from falling to a 2-1 defeat at Watford. Town had been the better side up to a two-goal Hornets salvo just before the break and got back on top in the closing stages after Norris’s goal but were unable to grab the equaliser.

Town trio Caolan Lavery (pictured), Josh Carson and Rory McKeown have been named in the Northern Ireland squad for a UEFA U19 Championships qualifying round mini-tournament in Germany which starts next week. Striker Lavery recently made his first appearances for Northern Ireland having previously played for Canada, the country of his birth.

Jason Scotland’s second strike for Town and an Adam Matthews own goal saw the Blues to a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City and into second place in the Championship. After a slow start Town, who were denied what looked like a certain penalty when Wickham was felled in the first half, went ahead after the break when Matthews headed past his own keeper, Scotland sealing the victory with 16 minutes remaining.
